Ep. 13 - Communicating for Good with Josh Kirkman

In this episode Tim sat down with our Podcast Producer and Communications Advisor Josh Kirkman. Recorded in February 2020 before the COVID-19 crisis, Josh discusses his unique career and life that has seen him journey from professional bodyboarder to startup founder; cleantech Communications Director; podcaster; environmental campaigner; communications specialist and back to competitive bodyboarding.

The pair share insights into their long-standing friendship that has become reinvigorated with Josh’s recent contribution to OIO. From this conversation, recorded on the first weekend of the Ocean Impact Podcast’s production schedule, Josh stepped in to produce every episode of the podcast and to offer invaluable support to OIO’s communications mission.

Josh is also the founder and producer of the Le Boogie Podcast and a contributor to the Nordic Surfers Magazine Conversations Podcast. Through his connections and experience in the Nordic surfing community Josh became a vocal figure in the successful lobbying of Norwegian petroleum giant Equinor that saw him assist in getting the word out about paddle outs in Scandinavia, documenting and podcasting about the Equinor AGM and helping generate great media exposure alongside the likes of Heath Joske and the rest of the Australians fighting hard for the Great Australian Bight.
