TURNING FOOD WASTE INTO STRETCH WRAP: JORDY & JULIA KAY FROM GREAT WRAP

Julia and Jordy Kay are the founders of Great Wrap, and 2nd Runners Up in Ocean Impact Pitchfest 2021. Great Wrap are an Australian startup tackling the enormous problem of plastic pollution and waste generated by the cling wrap industry. It replaces petroleum based stretch wrap with a compostable alternative derived from food waste.

Julia and Jordy weren’t always ocean impact entrepreneurs - Julia was an architect and Jordy was a winemaker before they leapt into the world of compostable stretch wrap and the range of applications they are pioneering for transport/shipping, hospitality, and home uses.

In this episode, Jordy and Julia inspire us with their down-to-earth attitudes and commitment to innovation in order to protect Planet Ocean. They share insights into their significant growth over a short period, their openness to help other startups and founders, and their plans for the future - including their expansion into the US.
