WE'RE DOUBLING DOWN ON THE
OCEAN IMPACT PODCAST

Are you enjoying The Ocean Impact Podcast? We are now up to episode 23 and have many more brilliant guests and conversations to share. To help us reach new audiences throughout the Pitchfest application window we’ve doubled down and are recording LIVE podcasts on the @oceanimpactorgInstagram channel with a diverse range of guests.

Last week we had a conversation with Ben Kneppers, co-founder of Bureo, an ocean impact business that uses waste fishing nets to create high value recycled products like: skateboards, fishing nets, designer chairs and, recently, Patagonia hat brims. INTRODUCING PITCHFEST PARTNER WWF AUSTRALIA AND OUR PODCAST GUEST ON EPISODE 22: RICHARD LECK

Our guest on episode 22 of The Ocean Impact Podcast is Richard Leck, the Head of Oceans and the National Manager for Marine Conservation and Sustainable Development at WWF Australia

We are pleased to announce that WWF is a Pitchfest 2020 Partner and that Richard Leck is a member of the esteemed judging panel who will help select the Runners Up and Winner.

We’ve written a great blog about WWF and all the great work Richard and his team are doing at WWF Australia. We discuss the new report Plastic Revolution to Reality commissioned by WWF and prepared by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) that examines the six most problematic types of single use plastic in Australia and sets out recommendations for state, territory and federal governments to act on the issue.

THE SEAFOOD FOR GOOD CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN IS NOW LIVE!

We are pleased to share the news that the two finalists of the Seafood For Good Accelerator have now launched their crowdfunding campaigns. This fantastic collaboration between Austral FisheriesStartSomeGoodBlue-X and Ocean Impact Organisation sought to find brilliant startups and projects to fill the ‘trawler to table’ gap for Australian sustainable seafood.

The two finalists are:
Farmer Meets Foodie who will give you the ability to track your box of seafood as it leaves the trawler and arrives at your door. Their crowdfunding campaign will test this concept in Northern Queensland, so if you live in that part of the world why not pre-purchase a box of incredible local seafood for Summer?

Seaweedery who have a mission to rescue flavours and nutrition lost, wasted or underutilized in the seafood supply chain — starting with a delicious prawn oil made entirely out of the waste products from Austral Fisheries’ prawn catch. Pre-order a bottle of delicious prawn oil and support their campaign here.
